An educational resource
Filenilla is an independent, free educational resource at https://filenilla.com. The pages explain FTP, FTPS, SFTP, and the FileZilla client so you can study a problem and try the checks yourself. Reading the site, using the troubleshooter, or sending a question does not hire Filenilla and does not create a contract for paid technical services.
There is no fee for the guides. Filenilla does not sell remote administration, a support plan, or its own software installer.
Using the guides yourself
The instructions are general. Servers, networks, and account rules differ, so a step that fits one system can be wrong for another. You decide whether a step applies, and you carry it out yourself. Filenilla does not guarantee that a problem will be fixed, that access will be restored, or that a file will transfer successfully.
The guides are not a substitute for the instructions from the person who operates your server. Where those instructions require encryption, follow them. The pages are not legal advice.
Independence from FileZilla
Filenilla is an independent educational resource and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the FileZilla project. The site is not official FileZilla support and cannot act for the FileZilla project. “FileZilla” is used only to identify that third-party software. The name belongs to its owner. Filenilla does not copy the project’s logo, does not distribute its installers, and does not present these pages as the project’s website. The project’s site is filezilla-project.org.
No remote administration
Filenilla does not sign in to your server, your hosting account, or your computer. Do not send login details so that someone at Filenilla can make a change for you. Questions are read when possible. A reply is not guaranteed, and there is no promised response time.
Your responsibility
Use the guides only on computers, accounts, and servers you are allowed to access. You are responsible for the settings you change on your own equipment and on servers you administer, within the law that applies to you. Keep your own copies of important files before you change a configuration.
The contact form
You may send a technical question through the contact form or to [email protected]. Do not include passwords, private keys, or other confidential account data. The form may reject a message that contains a private key. Sending a message does not create a support agreement or a duty to solve the problem.
Do not use the form to send malware, to harass anyone, to submit another person’s secrets, or to ask for access to a system you are not allowed to use. Automated submissions may be rejected, as described in the privacy policy.
Limits
The material is offered for education. It may be incomplete for your particular server. Filenilla is not responsible for a result that the law does not require a publisher of free educational material to prevent, such as a setting you chose to change. Nothing on this page removes a right the applicable law keeps for you.
Site content
The text and the Filenilla mark are published so the guides can be read. Do not present a copy of these pages as official FileZilla support. Third-party names remain the property of their owners.
